On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard phone records and information retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and is still open.

'I Don't Want Money'

A separate phone message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I feel."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Is that not crucial for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a life here in Poland, I only wish to know," the recording stated.

The jury was informed that through electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a effort to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who collated the data, advised the court there "seemed to lack any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail stating "I will continue and I will prove my claim."

The court learned the co-defendant developed a association online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in that area in December 2024.

Phone records demonstrated Mrs Spragg had reached out via messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the months leading up to the trip to the village, the county, in last December.

The court heard communications between the two accused, in November 2024, discussing trying to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from silverware at a dining venue.

"We have to make a stand," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the appearance to their home, the defendant dispatched a communication which said: "We are sat adjacent to the McCanns' residence with our headlights off resembling detectives. I had hoped to do this with someone else I hadn't anticipated I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The case proceeds.
